  2. Prepare a 10-inch springform pan by greasing it with one tablespoon of butter and dusting it with flour.
  3. Peel, core, and thinly slice the Autumn Glory apples.
  4. Add them to a bowl and pour ¼ cup of lemon juice.
  5. Toss them until fully coated.
  6. Mix the all-purpose flour and baking powder in a small bowl and set aside.
  7. In another mixing bowl, use a hand mixer to beat the ¾ cup of softened butter, white sugar, and 1 ½ teaspoons of vanilla extract until they are light and fluffy.
  8. Add in the eggs and beat at medium speed until combined.
  9. Add the all-purpose flour and baking powder mixture to this same bowl and beat at medium speed until fully incorporated.
  10. Finally, add in the milk and beat until combined. The batter will thicken.
  11. Add the batter to the prepared baking dish.
  12. Add ¼ cup butter, ¼ cup brown sugar, and 1 teaspoon cinnamon to a small pan and warm over medium heat.
  13. Stir until the sugar dissolves and remove.
  14. Drain the lemon juice from the apples, then gently arrange them on top of the dough in the baking dish, pressing them into the batter.
  15. Drizzle the melted butter-brown sugar-cinnamon mixture over the apples.
  16. Bake the cake for 40-50 minutes or until golden brown.
  17. Cool the cake for 10-15 minutes before removing from the pan.
