This apple grilled cheese sandwich is a rich, melty twist on a classic, made with Granny Smith apples, Havarti, and Dubliner cheese on sourdough bread. The apples add a crisp, slightly tart contrast that balances the creamy, melted cheese, while the toasted bread creates a golden, crunchy exterior. Simple to make and full of flavor, this grilled cheese is perfect for a quick lunch or an elevated comfort meal.

Ingredients

  • 2 Granny Smith apples
  • 4 slices of Havarti cheese
  • Dubliner cheese
  • 4 slices of sourdough bread
  • Mayonnaise

Directions

  1. Slice the Granny Smith apples and Dubliner cheese into skinny slices.
  2. Preheat your pan and spread mayonnaise on one side of your bread.
  3. Toast both sides of the slice.
  4. Start assembling by placing the Dubliner cheese, Harvati cheese, and Granny Smith slices (until your heart is content), then add a second slice of sourdough bread.
  5. Spread more mayonnaise on the top slice and flip.
  6. Cook until the bread is golden and crisp on all sides and the cheese is melted with the apples.
  7. Serve.
