Ingredients

Pecan Crumble

  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons salted softened butter
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • ⅛ teaspoon ground clove
  • 2 tablespoons light brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoons pecans, finely chopped

Spiced Butter & Autumn Glory Apples

  • 1 ½ tablespoons salted melted butter,
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon orange zest
  • 3 large Autumn Glory® apples
  • Vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for toppings

Directions

  1. In a medium bowl, add the flour and softened butter.
  2. Use a fork to create a coarse crumble.
  3. Mix in the cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, brown sugar, and pecan.
  4. Set aside.
  5. Preheat the over to 375° F and lightly grease a 9x13" baking dish
  6. In a small bowl, make the spiced bitter by combining the melted butter, cinnamon, nutmeg, and orange zest.
  7. Stir until evenly mixed and set aside.
  8. Peel the apples and remove the core; slice the apples in half vertically, and place each half flat side down.
  9. Cut thin, even slices across each apple half, stopping ¾ of the way down to keep the apple intact. For easier slicing, place chopsticks or skewers on either side of the apple; this prevents the knife from cutting all the way through.
  10. Brush the spiced butter mixture generously over the tops and bottoms of the sliced apples, letting the butter seep into the cuts.
  11. Press the prepared crumble mixture over the apples, filling some of the slices.
  12. Bake for 35-40 minutes until the apples are tender and the crumble is golden brown. Cover the pan with tin foil if the crumble is browning too quickly.
  13. Let the apples cool in the pan for 2-3 minutes.
  14. Serve warm, topped with a scoop of ice cream or whipped cream.
  15. ENJOY!
