Empowering and investing in our employees is part of the Superfresh culture. We believe this promotes self-confidence and adds value to the whole company. Since today is International Women’s Day, we thought we’d take a moment and share why we love investing in the women of our company.
Superfresh Growers is proud to have women in leadership roles spanning the spectrum of the company, from growing to packing, accounting to food safety, sales and marketing to logistics, and corporate affairs to human resources. “It is truly empowering to see women lead and guide Superfresh Growers in the direction we are going. Being part of a culture that values self-improvement and sees leadership beyond gender is inspiring and exciting to be a daily part of what we do here,” describes Catherine Gipe-Stewart, Communications Manager.
Participating in the PMA Women’s Fresh Perspectives Conference (WFPC) is a big part of our commitment to our employees. This conference gathers talented females from all aspects of the produce and floral industry, including those just emerging and those in more managerial and executive roles. “Research shows that placing more women in leadership measurably fuels a company’s success. This conference helps businesses leverage this competitive advantage by building and strengthening core leadership skills important for all leaders while addressing broader issues that uniquely affect women,” describes the WFPC website.
When asked what value she sees in the WFPC, Cindy Alarcon, Sales Manager, exclaims, “Confidence, confidence, confidence! It is so easy to be pulled into the normal day-to-day and not spend time on yourself. We immediately see that our colleagues come back empowered and more confident in themselves and their interactions with others. This conference helps you hone in on yourself and see yourself from another angle.” Cindy attended the first Women’s Fresh Perspectives Conference in 2013 and enjoyed seeing her colleagues return each year feeling empowered and motivated.
Women’s Fresh Perspectives Conference helps remind the Superfresh team that there is no limit to our potential. “It is truly invaluable to learn from women leaders in the industry. It opens your eyes to the impact women at all levels have on their companies and is truly an empowering experience. You leave more confident than when you arrived. We’re fortunate to have a company that prioritizes the value of growth experiences for women,” explains Molly Cochran, Sales.
“It is imperative to integrate women into the entire chain, from the orchard to the produce department floor. Women bring fresh perspectives regarding how to produce better, distribute and market fruit,” describes Kristin Kershaw Snapp, Director of Corporate Social Responsibility.
