Celebrating Our 2024 WAEF Scholarship Recipients

As we gathered for the Washington Apple Education Foundation (WAEF) luncheon this year, there was a noticeable sense of pride and joy in the air. This wasn't just another event, but a milestone- a celebration of 30 years of empowering dreams and fostering the next generation of leaders in the tree fruit industry and our community.

This year, we celebrated not only the current recipients but also the over 2,500 alumni who have walked the path before them. These alumni have gone on to achieve remarkable things, many of them becoming trailblazers in their fields.

The statistics we received this year speak volumes about the impact of this foundation. An impressive 78% of scholarship recipients are first-generation college students, beginning a new legacy of education in their families. Additionally, 68% of the recipients are female, and 76% are Latino, reflecting the foundation's commitment to diversity and inclusion.

The success rate of WAEF scholars is equally commendable. With an 89% renewal rate, it is clear that these students are not only getting the financial support they need, but also the encouragement and resources to continue excelling in their academic journeys. Moreover, 85% of recipients complete their bachelor's degree in four years or less, a testament to their dedication and the solid foundation WAEF provides.

Integral to WAEF's success is the unwavering support from its contributors. Among these significant supporters is Superfresh Growers. Our commitment to WAEF goes beyond financial contributions; it is a deep-rooted belief in the power of education and the importance of nurturing the next generation within our community.

Superfresh Growers has been a proud supporter of WAEF for many years, and our contributions have played a crucial role in ensuring the foundation can continue its mission. Our dedication is about investing in the future of our community and empowering students to reach their full potential.

Our commitment to education and community is reflected in the scholarship recipients. We are proud to share that six of Superfresh Growers employees' children are among the scholarship recipients this year. This highlights the direct impact of our contributions and underscores our dedication to supporting our own community.

Congratulations to everyone!
