Apple harvest continues across Washington state, with crews nearing the end of the Honeycrisp harvest. Gala harvest has wrapped up, Granny Smith is underway, and Red and Golden Delicious are beginning in select areas.
A recent shift in the weather has brought cooler nights and sunny days, creating great harvest conditions. The cooler temperatures also help apples develop deeper color as they approach maturity, contributing to beautiful fruit and a great eating experience this season.
Pear harvest is also nearing completion, with only some Anjou and Bosc pears remaining in later districts. Overall, the harvest continues to move along well as we look ahead to the next apple varieties coming off the trees.
