In our latest Orchard Update, Dave Gleason discusses the intensive planning and infrastructure investment required to create orchards and fields for all this fruit. “We’re building a manufacturing plant when you think about it,” says Gleason. He continues, “We must create a structure that will carry the crop load and combine all the details, including irrigation and orchard floor management.” This allows the fruit to “develop good color, flavor, and exceptional size.”

Gleason also provides a sneak peek into growing Cosmic Crisp® apples, which Washington State growers, including Superfresh Growers®, will introduce this year.
